Simple, Performs Great & is Easy to Use November 15, 2005 Reviewer: Michael (GearZone.com Tester) from Utah, United States   The Black Diamond ATC changed the way people belay and rappel. The ATC is easier to learn than a figure 8, and safer to use for a beginner. I’ve done 300 foot rappels with the BD ATC and it was smooth the whole way. Speed is easy to adjust by increasing or decreasing the angle of the bottom portion of the rope in respect to the ATC unit. Belaying is easy with the ATC. Feeding rope out and taking up slack is fast and smooth. The Black Diamond ATC is a simple unit that works great on a variety of rope diameters.
