The lightest, strongest double-wall tents Black Diamond makes, the two-person Mirage tent is the optimal shelter for ounce-counting backpackers and climbers.
The Mirage’s integrated vestibule is designed with a unique “side angle,” thereby keeping gear nearby and accessible but clear of the doorway. The freestanding, three-season Mirage employ fast-pitch hubs and variable-diameter DAC Featherlite® poles to ensure a simple, speedy setup and, belying its feather weight, unrivaled rigidity in high-wind situations.
Built with a 360-degree-view mesh upper and a nylon ripstop lower perimeter for privacy, the Mirage has excellent ventilation without feeling too visible to others. For significant weight savings the tents can be set up with only the fly and optional ground cloth.
DAC Poles: DAC Featherlite tent poles work to inherently improve a tent’s strength-to-weight ratio while providing the least chance of breakage because there are no glued inserts. Their sleeved and structurally sound connecting pole sections eliminate their weakest link, glued pole inserts, reducing weight by 15 % over other commonly-used aluminum poles.

“The double-wall tent Mirage hits the sweet spot in this rarefied weight class, combining a roomy interior, rock-solid weatherproofing, and durable materials. The hubbed-pole setup is fast and easy, even in driving wind, and the fin-shaped design stood firm in 40-mph gusts and shed several inches of heavy, wet snow during a spring Colorado storm. I fair weather, the fly rolls back to expose enough mesh for stargazing. Ventilation is superior in all conditions, thank to good airflow through the vestibule vent on the fly and broad swaths of mesh. The large floor and 37-inch peak height allowed our 6’2” tester and a companion to comfortably ride out a prolonged rainstorm. The tent’s single door is angled to the side rather than centered, which allows you to store packs and boots without blocking the entryway."
