The Leki Ultralite Ti Ergometric poles are ultralight, easy to use and have comfortable handles. The lightweight handles have a 10 degree positive angle for increased comfort. The wrist straps are adjustable and cinch down easily. The handle/wrist strap combination have proven to be very comfortable for me even after several straight days of use.
The new Leki tightening system is much stronger than their older one from a few years ago. The new system takes more rotations to tighten or loosen the pole sections, but the hold is much stronger and it takes less torque to get. When all the sections are collapsed, the Ultralite Ti Ergometric poles are very compact. The carbide tips are really durable and provide good grip on a variety of natural surfaces. Some people ask about the shock absorption versions. I personally find the trekking poles with shocks in them to be heavier with little benefit for the extra weight.
Some people tend to have problems with the tightening mechanisms on multi-section poles. What usually happens is that they spin the pole section too far in the wrong direction trying to tighten or loosen the trekking poles. This spins the tightening mechanism off the threads that allow it to expand. The fix is easy. All you have to do is make sure the section that you are having problems with is loose and pull the two sections apart. Then re-thread the plastic expander a full turn onto the threads. Push the smaller section into the larger section and rotate in the tightening directions. Easy fix!
These ultralight trekking poles allow me to take impact off my knees and back. They also allow me to climb steep trails or mountains with less effort. Stream crossing are easier with poles as well. Just about any situation that requires balance is made easier. Poles also allow me to get a full body workout when hiking, backpacking or mountaineering.
In my opinion Leki makes the finest trekking poles on the market and the Ultralite Ti Ergometric poles are the best metal ultralight poles on the market. They have proven to be durable, lightweight and comfortable.
