The Montbell UL Tec Down Jacket is designed for serious mountaineering, but works great for backpacking and other mountain sports.

Inspired by Montbell’s UL Down jacket, the Tec Down jacket is considerably warmer with roughly 30% more insulation, while being resistant to the elements and more durable in technical situations.

High quality 800 fill power down provides warmth without weight. 50-denier nylon reinforcements on the shoulders, elbows to cuff, and sides increase durability and abrasion resistance. 100-wash rated Polkatex® DWR treatment protects you and the down from light showers.

• Ballistic™ nylon is one and a half times more abrasion resistant than other similar weight fabrics and boasts three times the tear strength of nylons that are almost 20% heavier. Because of this, Ballistic™ nylons have allowed Montbell to reduce the weight of many of their products by more than 50% without sacrificing durability. This strength comes from the manufacturing process where the nylon is repeatedly heated and stretched to align the molecules, much like the tensilizing of steel, resulting in an extremely durable, light weight, wind and water resistant fabric.
