Description Sizing Chart   The Montbell UL Thermawrap Jacket is only 8.8 ounces, insulates when wet and is wind and water resistant. As light as a cotton t-shirt, but incredibly warm for its weight! Updated for 2009: The fabric now has a softer hand, is far less shiny, and makes very little noise with movement. Cuffs now feature a wedge shaped stretch panel for increased comfort and durability. Similar elastic wedges have also been added to both sides of the hem creating a more refined fit. Full length coil zipper has a wind blocker behind the zipper. Two hand warmer pockets and a micro-fleece collar lining increase comfort. Exceloft synthetic insulation acts like down, providing the best combination of insulation, lofting, durability and compressibility. Exceloft retains heat and maintains its lofting properties 10-20% better than other leading synthetic insulations. Unlike down, Exceloft retains 80% of its insulation value when wet! Exceloft absorbs less that 1% of the water that it comes in contact with, making it highly resistant to saturation and extremely fast drying. Everyone that picks this jacket up is completely shocked by how light and soft it is. It compresses down to slightly larger than a softball and comes with a stuff sack that weighs 8 grams. Exceloft™ - Montbell's Exceloft™ insulation uses 8-denier polyester threads as a structure to intertwine with extra thin 0.7-denier threads that add more air pockets and resilience. The Warmest Synthetic Jacket for its Weight! May 29, 2007 Reviewer: Michael (GearZone.com Tester) from Utah, United States   I used the Montbell UL Thermawrap Jacket over the last couple of years for backpacking, adventure racing, hiking and climbing. It is great insurance against the cold, at a weight and size that you can’t justify leaving behind. At just under 9 ounces for a size medium and a pack size smaller than an American football, it is the warmest synthetic jacket in its weight class. I was really impressed with how much warmth it gave in real world conditions. The shell material is super soft and I never felt any wind get through. It is easy to layer over other clothes and is super comfortable. With just a thin base layer, I was able to stay comfortable down to 35°F while hiking. I do have a higher than normal tolerance for cold though. What I like most about the jacket is that I know if I have to stop for any reason that I have with an extra warm jacket to prevent chill or hypothermia. During one 24 hour adventure race, we had to stop at 4 a.m. in the morning and wait for the sun to come up to find the next check point. The temperature was in the high 20’s, but with the Thermawrap jacket and a hat I was able to stay relatively warm. The new hand warmer pockets are a nice addition. For the weight, you can’t buy a better synthetic jacket! Was this review helpful to you?
